If you are younger and still live at home, could this be your parents checking up on you? If not, you could always try to run a packet capture at your router level (assuming you can trust it). It's worth a shot if it happens regularly enough and can catch it.

Reasonably Priced Jig? by camerakid1 in turning

[–]rrittenhouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least for my bowl gouge, I made this jig from Marius Hornberger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfmIv0iXjis&feature=youtu.be

I actually 3d printed the version that someone modeled and posted to thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1855586

I then modeled out the sliding portion of the jig that attaches to the grinder base or bench that Marius shows in the video. It works fantastic with my slow speed Rikon bench grinder.

He was probably delaying the covering-up of the wood. Or he was wanting us to tell him that he should probably leave her lol.

I've always had that issue. Endocrinologist just says that some guys are just sensitive down there.

Still, get that checked out. Maybe mine was over generalizing and assuming that the % chance was low for it to be something else.

Dark Fiber RFP for Erate? Need some advice by n3l3 in k12sysadmin

[–]rrittenhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I work, we do quite a bit of different eRate projects for K12. That said, I have never been trained on eRate in any way so I do not know what I'm talking about ;)

I typically hear that you should be as vague as possible to not limit you to a specific vendor or an exact number of ports, etc. For Voice over IP (what I work with), I see 470's that specify their total number of buildings, PSTN Lines, PRI Circuits, etc without getting too specific.

I realize that this probably doesn't help your exact question much but I am hearing more about leasing dark fiber from providers that we already use (Horizon, Time Warner/Spectrum, Windstream, etc)

If you are K12, do you have an ITC? or some kind of ESC?

It sucks. Send it to me and i'll display..er dispose of it properly! ;) Great job. I have tried here and there and always screw it up. Going to try it with a hardwood next instead. I should probably get some more proper saws as well.

Craigslist Bandsaw - yay or nay? (link inside) by Grimsterr in BeginnerWoodWorking

As others have said, you only know your own situation. Me personally? I bought one that looks exactly like it but is the "Cummins" brand if you will. I see that they cared and used it enough to mount the switch up higher on the unit instead of leaving it where that hole is in the base. I actually like that idea and I might steal it ;) Make sure the wheels run straight and have no cracks in them (before buying it).

My suggestion is to get it and clean it up some. That does include buying a brand new blade for it (this is a must!) and make sure that it's the blade that matches what you want to do with it. People say that if you do have issues with these it could be the old tires on them, etc.

Mine has issues where when it was delivered (for $100, no complaints and I like a good challenge) the blade guide assembly has the "forks" (where the cool blocks guide the blade in either direction) broke off while he was bringing it over. I tried jbweld quick'ing it back to the blade guide and it came off within 2 days. So i'm trying to fix that still (I need to buy a whole new assembly for around $40-50 and be done with it).

I say that you buy it (assuming it's in workable shape), clean it, and use it to make enough money to buy a better one. Depending on what you use it for, it may be sufficient. You can use that money to by a planer or something then ;)

Which song did you last sing while you were home alone? by Backagain18 in AskReddit

I thought of "Disturbed - The Sound of Silence". That said, I REALLY enjoy actual silence when I can get it. I'm in the same situation with a stay-at-home mom and a 3 year old. I can relate :D

Haha, that's freaking awesome! yeah AEP seems to be doing well. I get text alerts whenever a planned outage happens or when an unplanned outage happens with ETA, etc. It's fun to fire up the RTLSDR and pull all of the power meter data from the local "area" too.

My first dog (of 14 years) passing just two short weeks ago, tomorrow at 3:51am. He was a loved Pekingese by many. I couldn't have asked for much more in a dog. He passed at home surrounded by all of the people and our other pets that loved him. They say that it gets easier.

Sadly, one of his puppy-sisters has heart disease and is not far behind him. The medications can only keep her going for so long.

Welp, mark my last time as writing this post. Go hug your family (pets included!)

I figured there would be a ton of them. That's just crazy, though. I just looked at our AEP Ohio website and it has totally changed from some flash-based outage map to a Google Maps based one. For the heck of it, I tried finding the JSON data source but I only stumbled upon this url that does have data in it for the current time. I'm not sure how you would go about finding the "latest" JSON data that populates the map. Have you had to extract from a source such as this yet? Actually, I just answered that myself by checking out what you had for Ohio already. FirstEnergy apparently has this same system that AEP has.

I've been using these around the house for automation of different lights and devices. More specifically I'm using the sonoff from Itead to make it more compact and "ready to go" without having to design a board and enclosure all over again. I just got an ESP32 but I am waiting on a pre-made board to solder it to so I can get at the pins a little easier. These little devices are fun for sure.

edit: I suppose this could be used as a "remote pdu" of sorts for a home lab. I hadn't thought of that one yet until now!

Awesome! Are you successfully pulling this data from every state or are there still some to go?

How to YouTube after Shoulder Surgery? by Mediocre_LPC in PartneredYoutube

[–]rrittenhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a somewhat situation but different limb. I'm about 4 hours away from having my right (driving) ankle fused. I've been on planning to start editing and uploading content. Granted my hands aren't going to be affected, my mobility is. My content is bases around making and woodworking....

You can search for a China knockoff for very cheap on ebay that has multi buttons. That's about all I have to offer. It's not great but it may help you get through editing.

That leads me to wonder if there is an app that you could use on a smartphone to use with your good hand to make editing go faster? That said, I'm not a fan of on-screen buttons.

Good luck and I hope you find your balance.

Thanks. I REALLY like that rig and I don't think I've seen it before either! It has been like 5 years or so since I've been active on HF.
